Organic Search Optimization
Components
Search Engine Optimization is complex. Here are the main things to consider:
- Keywords/Keyphrases:
This is the foundation – this where we make strategic decisions about
the popularity of a each potential keyword versus the competition for
ranking well.
- Content: It is really
important to have great content divided into themes with your strategic
keywords interspersed. A good rule of thumb is no more than two keyphrases per thematic page.
- Structure: The way Web pages are constructed has a lot to do with SEO
performance. This is the most
complex of the Organic Search Optimization components.
- Links:
A website without any of the strategic keywords can still outperform a
well-optimized website, if it has a substantial number of links
(probably links that contain the strategic keywords) from external
websites. This is the core of the Google search algorithm.
- Submitting to Directories/Search Engines: Creating an XML sitemap and submitting it will encourage proper indexing of your website.
- Aging: The longer a domain has been registered, and the longer a website has
been available – the better.
