A month or two ago, I bought a Jawbone bluetooth wireless headset. I did it because I got sick of being tethered two feet from my iPhone for two-hour conference calls. Now, I am free to move up to 10 feet Iphone_34before static takes over. Believe it or not, this feels like tremendous freedom! What I haven't told you is that if I move my iPhone out of a 6 inch by 6 inch area on my desk - the call will drop 90% of the time in less than a minute... This obviously drives me crazy, but I live in a Canyon. And, I have experienced the same level of dropped calls from other providers as well. So, until recently, I've been OK with it.

A couple of days ago, however, my 5 year old son decided to call his grandparents. Rather than use our home phone, he thought he would try his new FireFly Glow. The phone is not expensive. It is designed to provide safety through easyGlowphone_front_side_blk_250 calling and GPS tracking. It is a pay as you go model with a relatively easy set-up process. When I say "easy calling", I mean it has an icon of a man for "Dad" and an icon of a woman for "Mom". It is a little more difficult to call the others that have been parentally authorized! So, as my son worked to find their number and make the call, I needed to get ready for a client meeting.

As I am taking my shower and peering through the glass door, I see my son talking away with my Dad. But he's not just talking, he's pacing! I watch in amazement as he orbits our centrally located bathroom cabinetry, passes through my side of our shared closet, reappears through his mother's side and continues the pattern. He did this about eight times - and, unbelievably, never dropped the call!

I can't even fathom this level of freedom. The freedom to move anywhere in my home while maintaining my connection. Wow!!!

Anyway, I'm not about to switch phones, but can anyone tell me why a $40 kid phone can kick the crap out of my $400 iPhone?
